HpSIM4.1 discovery of MSCS Cluster

We have Hpsim4.1 installed on a cluster. But this is the only cluster, that has been discovered. All other MSCS cluster cannot be discovered, what can be the problem? Do we have to do something in advance?

Did you enable cluster agent in foundation agents on the other cluster nodes? It is on the server under something like HP Tools -> Foundation Agents Setup

Re: HpSIM4.1 discovery of MSCS Cluster

I have the same issue. No clusters are showing up. I did verify that in the agent config that cluster is added.

Some cluster nodes have the latest IM Agents.

Any advice?

Thanks

Thanks for tha answer. But it did not work. I put the cluster resources to managed, but it does not appear in HPSIM.

Another thought is to check and make sure your Virtual IPs have been discovered.

Re: HpSIM4.1 discovery of MSCS Cluster

I think there is a problem of identification of MSCS nodes concerning a different OS language than English (for example German). I have seen this issue several times in IM7SP1.2, IM7SP2, HPSIM4 and now in HPSIM4.1.

The interesting fact is that we have installed for testing purpose for the first time a MSCS cluster with an English OS Language W2K Advanced Server SP4 and after the Installation for the first time in my case the cluster nodes were discovered from our HPSIM4 (W2K Advanced Server SP4, German Language). But all other 15 MS Clusters (W2K Advanced Server SP4, German OS Language) are not discovered till yet and therefore we are using Compaq Insight Manager 5.50 as a workaround.

By the way our newest release of HPSIM4.1 is based on W2K3 (German Language) and have the same issues as described above. It is definitely not a DNS issue and the HP Agents (range from 5.50 to 7.00 on ProLiant DL580, DL580G2, DL380G2 and DL380G3) are also properly configured. To avoid misunderstandings: Our HPSIM4.1 itself is not installed on a MSCS cluster, also the previous releases of IM7 and HPSIM.

The name of the author â Fischler Thomasâ of this subject sounds German and therefore I think you probably have also a German OS Language as MSCS in use in your IT infrastructure. Thomas, can you acknowledge this?

My apprehension is that this whole â IT resource center forumâ is heavily dependent on the native â English OS Languageâ and therefore difficult for most of all to understand our situation.

At this point I would like to ask David Claypool: Is the described configuration field-tested? Can you clone and test â our special OS configurationâ in your HPSIM-Lab for recognizing and solving our problem, plea

Re: HpSIM4.1 discovery of MSCS Cluster

Halil, thanks for your answers. We have a quite big infrastructure of servers (160 HP Servers), all of them are installed with english Windows. Also HPSIM4.1 is installed on an english W2003 cluster and is the only cluster to be seen. I´ve tried to put the management agents to use cluster resources and tried to discover the mscs cluster again by removing the physical servers and discover them again. But still no cluster server here.

Hello Halil,

did you solved the Problem? We've the same Problems with German MSCS and HPSIM4.1 SP1
