IBM XSeries with SIM
Hi, wondering if SIM requires the XSeries servers to run the IBM management Agent in order to see details on the system through SIM.
I have read other posts that talk about compiling MIBs, but really have not found where to download the IBM MIBs, anyone have a pointer for that?
Last question is, what should I be seeing in SIM when the xseries shows up and all is working well. What details will be visible in the list view and when clicking on the server into server detail view.
Thanks for any help!

Re: IBM XSeries with SIM
Shawn:
An IBM server running Windows 2000 or greater with WMI active and SNMP will allow hpSIM to discover, identify, poll for status (up/down only), and collect data for items instrumented for WMI (generic stuff every system provides).
With the presence of the IBM agent, you get 2 things: the ability to send calls for help (SNMP traps) and a link to the agent's web interface similar to the way an Insight agent has a link. This is important because you now can work with specific details about the IBM system rather than just generics.
hpSIM already has the appropriate MIB to allow it to receive and translate traps originating with an IBM server. No downloads or MIB compiling is necessary.

Re: IBM XSeries with SIM
David,
Thank you, just what I needed.
Maybe we should have a "Using 3rd party servers with hp SIM" User Guide. Although it would be short, it could help a lot of people (like myself) configure and troubleshoot SIM with 3rd party.
Thanks again! Shawn
