ILO discovery names showing IP address instead of iLO name in HPSIM
We are having some issues with the names of our Management Processors when doing discovery in HPSIM. A handful of servers show the System Name as ilo* but most others are just coming up as the IP Address. I have added static entries into DNS but they are still not showing correctly. Anyone have any idea why this is???
We are running HPSIM 5.1 w/ SP1
ilo firmware: anywhere from 1.82 to 1.91.
thanks

Re: ILO discovery names showing IP address instead of iLO name in HPSIM
What are the names set as on the iLO config pages?
Like the subsystem name?
Or if you look at the system props for those devices, it is checked off to prevent the discovery process not to change anything?
Had this issue way back. Cannot remember exactly what I did, but went thru each page on the iLO on made sure all the settings were entered correctly.
Then they started appearing correctly and showing as in system .

Re: ILO discovery names showing IP address instead of iLO name in HPSIM
Thanks for replying...it turns out that it was a DNS issue. After we upgraded to Windows 2003 a DNS server setting was changed from "allow secure and non-secure updates" to "only allow secure updates". So when the old records were scavenged, DNS would not allow the PTR records to be updated. This causes HPSIM to show only the IP Addresses instead of the ilo name.
