IM7 and SQL DB
I am in process of building a new Insight Manager 7 (SP2.3) server for about 1500 HP/Compaq Proliant servers. I have a Compaq Proliant DL580 G2 with 2.0GB of ram, Dual 1.9Ghz Intel Xeon processors and 4 - 36.0 GB Hard drives, do you install the SQL server (win2k) locally or use the remote SQL server for IM7 Database.
Thank,
Mahesh Shah

Re: IM7 and SQL DB
You can do it either way; with that brawny of a machine it should make no difference.
One thing you might consider (full disclosure: among other things, I am the Workload Management Pack product manager)--IM7 is not optimized for multi-processors. You could get maximum benefit from your configuration by getting the Workload Management Pack ($499 list price) and using it to set IM7 to work on one processor and the SQL application on the other processor. This would eliminate a lot of context switches and contention and thereby improve performance.
