I manually add 1 or 2 servers and then I create notification tasks. I then import the other 350 servers with a hosts file and when I try to create a new task I get runtime errors.
I have to uninstall HPSIM7 and re-install then add a couple server create the task, this time I searched by IP ranges and was able to add other taks. it has been a week now and when I tried to create another task I get the runtime error again.
Has anybody else run into this issue before?

Re: HPSIM 7 and creating new Tasks
My question there was why do you prefer to manually add Servers rather than add the appropriate IP Addresses into the Autodiscovery ranges and run autodiscovery and device identification tasks.
This just seems to be an easier way of managing IM rather than always manually adding servers. If the IP ranges cover current and the addresses new servers will get then there's no additional work to be done.

Re: HPSIM 7 and creating new Tasks
Under the Options / Discovery AutoDiscovery I just have ranges like:
10.10.14.1-10.10.14.254
in the Ping Inclusion ranges.
Auto-dicovery will find any device in this range.
The device identifcation task will then use SNMP to try and identify the device.
You can also exclude selected IP Addresses or ranges.

SolutionI even re-imaged my server twice using both SQL and MSDE, but had the same results every time. My final fix.....install server 2003 and now HPSIM works like a champ.
