Inherited HP System Management Homepage No Known Password

How can I get into the HP System Management Homepage on all my servers since the Administrator Password is unknown as it was changed by previous Engineer who is not available anymore. I checked and there are no cpqhmmd.ini files on the servers.

Any help would be gratly appreciated.
Thanks, Gene

Re: Inherited HP System Management Homepage No Known Password

A few years back (starting with version 7.1) the SMH changed to OS security. Have you tried logging in with the credentials on the host?

Administrator Passwords have changed since the original install multiple times and yes the current one is not working. Thanks, Gene

Re: Inherited HP System Management Homepage No Known Password

What David means is that since 7.1 of the HP Agents they no longer use a password stored in a .ini file.
You don't mention the OS that the SMH is on, but you should be able to access the SMH using domain credentials that have admin rights to the server. Just use a format of domain\username at the login box.

Guys ok sorry more information is that the versions are much older. These are servers purchased at least 2 years ago and much beyond. Still no access as of now. Thanks, Gene

gene,

is it an option for you to reinstall (a newer version) of the hp sim agents locally on each server (given you have access to local account capable of this) ?

good luck

Mark,
That would be a huge change management and security undertaking. If that is the only way to get in I may not have that option. Thanks, Gene

Re: Inherited HP System Management Homepage No Known Password

'Configure or Repair Agents' is a function in HP SIM that will use OS security to correct your problem without having to visit each one.

OK that sounds like a good utility, but if i cannot get into HP SIM how do I configure it? Thanks, Gene

Re: Inherited HP System Management Homepage No Known Password

Is you question about HP SIM or SMH? They are 2 different things. HP SIM has always used OS authentication. If you have an Administrator password on the box, that's your login.

Re: Inherited HP System Management Homepage No Known Password

You might want to start by identifying the version of SIM.
From a CMD window, cd to the "bin" installation directory and enter mxversion.

That should report the version of HPSIM installed.
You might also want to google mxuser and look to using that as a way of adding a user that you can log into hpsim with.
