Insight Manager leveraging (Application Service restarts)
Hi,
A quick question with the capabilities of HP Insight Manager...
Does anyone know if it is possible to use SIM for notification if applications services (SQL, Websense, Exchange, etc.) stop/stall?
I didn't think it was possible, but I've been told that it may be...
Thanks for any insights you may have.

Re: Insight Manager leveraging (Application Service restarts)
On the server you want to set the alert on, go to Control Panel --> HP Management Agents --> Process Monitor [tab]. You can select the process and choose to alert on start, stop or stop & start. When the event happens, an SNMP trap will be sent to HP SIM.

Re: Insight Manager leveraging (Application Service restarts)
Thanks, Claypool.
I know what you're speaking of...I tested it on a blade server with Version Control service (vcagent)using stop.
I configured the Event Notification tool on the server, and sent a test trap successfully, but I did not get an email for the actual service being stopped. Is there another setting within the HP Management Agent that has to be configured?

Re: Insight Manager leveraging (Application Service restarts)
Thanks Claypool.
Rebooted the server, tested again and it kicked in.
Nice tip...
