Is there a insight agent for Redhat Linux 7.3?

Re: Insight manager - linux

HP only has support SIM for the RH Enterprise and SUSE.

With some hacking you can get it to work for FC3 - but it will not be supported.

Re: Insight manager - linux

Yes, there is, but it's not kept current since RH dis ciscontinued support for it so long ago. We try to support a current version and 1 back. That means RHEL 4 and RHEL 3 right now.

Go to http://www.hp.com/servers/swdrivers and use option 2 to find the most recent ProLiant Support Pack for RH 7.3. At the bottom of the page is the list of servers that is supported. For instance, the DL380 G3 was the last 380 supporting 7.3.

You also can download the current (ironically, it's 7.3) support pack and rebuild it for the version of Linux you're running. Go to http://www.hp.com/go/proliantlinux and follow the instructions starting on page 25 of "Managing ProLiant Servers with Linux."

You also should read the support statement on RHP at http://www3.compaq.com/support/reference_library/viewdocument.asp?source=cn0362w.xml&dt=3

Re: Insight manager - linux

One more question - does Insight Manager work with ISEE and EMS or does it do the same thing?

Re: Insight manager - linux

I have HPSIM installed on a HPUX 11.11 system.
I find it much better than running on winblows.

I have intergrated the ISEE and the EMS from the HPUX systems to send traps to the HPSIM and the alerting originates from there. Also, the ProLiant Blade servers running RH Linux are a piece of cake. Found them right away and no issues at all. Just configure the snmpd.conf file to set community names and the trapsink on the Linux.
