Re: Insight Manager with Nagios
I doubt it.
I don't think Nagios would know what to do with snmp traps.
I'm not too sure how else you'd get the issue to Nagios.

Re: Insight Manager with Nagios
hi
Nagios is a framework where people would add plug ins :some plug ins like check hpasm and checkilo have been developped.
http://www.nagiosexchange.org/Check_Plugins.21.0.html (in the hardware part.)
Nagios is able to recieve snmp trap if a trap reciever is setup ion the nagios server.
an example here :
http://www.samag.com/documents/s=9559/sam0503g/
another one from the nagios web site :
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/2_0/int-snmptrap.html
to summarize :
1/use plug ins :check hpasm and other :only scripts to interrogate the status of the daemons
2/replicate HP SIM: create an snmp server / reciever on the Nagios server.
a-HP SIM forwarding to Nagios. The problem here would probably the root of the snmp trap : It may be lost in the forwarding process from client to HP SIM then HP SIM to nagios.
b-Servers sending traps to both of them.
Keep in mind that HP SIM have functinnalities that nagios lacks and vice versa... :-) (version control, reporting...)
Both are complementary.
hope it helps
fred
