Installing HPSIM fails due to "missing" SQL

The HP SIM will be installed on a SQL server where the installation fails at the moment where the SQL server login and name must be added.
The credentials work fine (I get an error message when I provide the wrong password ),
but somehow the SQL server is not discovered.
I used the normal name, full qualified DNS name, even the IP address failed.

Daniel,

I can't help you with this problem but I have installed HPSIM 4.1 on a SQL server and it led to extraordinary high CPU and memory utilization which disappeared after I installed SQL on a seperate box. Although it is not a hard fact that HPSIM cannot run on the same box as SQL I would not recommend it.

The account you are logged in to install SIM, should be a Database Admin and Local Admin on the server that is running SQL.
