Integrate a C++ Application with Insight Manager 7
Hi,
We have a C++ application running on a Compaq computer with NT. One of the requirements for the project is that the C++ application needs to send events to IM7 which is running on another NT server machine when errors occurred in the C++ application. The users of the project hope that they could monitor the C++ application from IM7 along with the devices that IM7 already monitors.
Questions: does IM7 support integration with an application instead of a device by simply using SNMP? I could not find any documentation from IM7 manuals about what interfaces of IM7 and how an application could talk to IM7. Could anyone give some advice regarding this question?
One idea that we have is that we could implement a SNMP agent (using IPWorks toolkit) to be run at the same machine as C++ application, load a MIB file to IM7 and hope that IM7 could then discover the C++ application and then receives the traps sent by the C++ application. Is this a realistic approach?
Thanks so much in advance~!
