Is a Windows service still running?

SIM 5.0

A question from a beginner: how can I check (poll) if a Windows service is running, or set a trap when it stops?

Hiya,

I'm not sure if you can poll a service as such (anyone know?) but within the HP Insight Management Agents option within the servers Control Panel, there's a Process Monitor which should be able to send a trap when a specified process stops?
Never really looked into this though..
