Is there a limit to SIM?
Is there a limit to SIM.
I have over 255 items being monitored some dell, but maily HP DL380's amd ML 370's. we cannot seem to add more than 255 items. Including ilo's.
As soon as a device is deleted a different one is idetified and added ok.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions.
Many thanks
K

Re: Is there a limit to SIM?
there is no limit in this dimension to hp-sim,
we are monitoring about 700 objects. maybe you are limited by the database.
have a nice day

Re: Is there a limit to SIM?
I am monitoring about 1200 servers and have not had any issues regarding limitations. I am using an IBM DL380 G3. I only use this for server monitoring and alert notification, I do not use it for software updates or version control.

Re: Is there a limit to SIM?
I am monitoring about 2000 servers and 5000 devices in total with some 100.000+ IP adresses being scanned via auto-discovery, and even though SIM complains in the setup dialog that the recommended number of IP adresses are 2000 there is no problem in this high number (except that it takes 3 days to traverse...)
I do think the recommended number of IP adresses is quite low, but on the other hand we may also have too many subnets but as long as it only warns but still allows scaning everything's ok. ;-)
