Issues after replacing CPQHMMD.ACL in Linux

I have recently taken over the management of several linux machines running the System Management Homepage. Unfortunately, the previous sysadmin didn't leave the password. I am trying to replace the CPQHMMD.ACL in /var/spool/compaq/wbem then restarting the snmpd service, but am still unable to login. I don't want to have to bounce these machines quite yet so any help would be appreciated.

Re: Issues after replacing CPQHMMD.ACL in Linux

I notice you have stated that you have restarted the snmpd service - does that result in the agents restarting? If you are using the older version of SMH that uses the ACL then one of the agent services has to restart. If you are using the newer version of SMH - it does not use the ACL file, though it may be present - it uses OS based authentication for logging in. The sign-in screen will have a big message on it indicating that it uses OS authentication if this is the case.
