Java version for managing SIM
Why does not JAVA 1.4.1 work with Insight Manager? Do I really need to install 1.3.1_02?
I get this error:
Insight Manager 7 - Plug-in Not Installed
The JavaTM Plug-in Version 1.3.1_02 has not been installed.
TIA
Jonas

Re: Java version for managing SIM
If I remember correctly the latest Service Packs of CIM 7 require different Java versions (.i.e. 1.3.1_08), and it looks like the new Systems Insight uses Java 1.4.1 and above.
However if you are running into a problem where other systems that you run on the same PC need the new Java and the version of Insight Manager uses 1.3.1_02 then the following may provide a workround.
Go into Internet Options from the IE6 tools menu, select the Advanced tab and then scroll down to the Java(Sun) section and remove the tick again Use Java 2 v1.3.1_02for

Re: Java version for managing SIM
Jonas -
Java is not a backward compatible program. When the IM7 developers wrote IM7, it was hardcoded with a specific version fo JRE and that is version 1.3.1_02. Hence different version of IM or SIM requires different version of JRE installed. Both versions of IM will work with the same version of JRE.
The problem is java related not IM or SIM specifically.
