Manage an ESL712 with HP SIM
Hello,
I cannot seem to find, nor do I have the possibility to test, how you can manage an ESL712 with HP SIM. Does HP SIM detect the ESL712 ?? Do you have to configure SNMP on the ESL712 ?? Can you deploy an PSP to the ESL712 ??
Anyone ?
Thanks !

Re: Manage an ESL712 with HP SIM
Refer to http://h200001.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00057439/c00057439.pdf on how to get hp Systems Insight Manager to recognize Command View ESL.

Re: Manage an ESL712 with HP SIM
I have read the documentation (btw, the link is broken - use h2..0 instead of h2..1). All it states for Command View for ESL (now Command View for TL) is to set the trap destination and associated community string. But it does not talk about how you use SIM to monitor/poll the Interface Manager. When I look at SIM System Types in 5.0 it shows only ESL9XXX and MSL libraries and not ESL712.

Re: Manage an ESL712 with HP SIM
There was not much you could do at the time of writing except maybe customizing the device types.
However, since then, there is a new hp Systems Insight Manager 5.0 plug-in called Storage Essentials. Take a look at http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storage/software/e-suite/se-index.html for details. It adds support for the SMI-S protocol.
