mibs and cfg files and SNMP trap settings
I am quite new to HPSIM. I have been confused about the changing of severity settings for SNMP Trap settings. Some times the changing of severity levels is then reflected in the traps received after the change, sometimes not.
I believe that changing SNMP trap settings with in HPSIM updates HPSIM database but has no change to the MIBS. Are there rules as to when you need to edit the cfg files and when you need to modify SNMP trap settings ?
I hope I made myself clear ;-)

Re: mibs and cfg files and SNMP trap settings
Hi Ralph.
If you change the severity using HPSIM, the effect is immediate.
If you modify it in the CFG file, you must import it for the changes to take effect.
Modifying the cFG file before importation is faster if you know all the settings to be changed. The changes will be imported with the file.
After the import, if you have few ones to change, using HPSIM may be faster. But I recommend to modify the file as well : if you have to import again the CFG, all the changes will be there.
Regards.
