migrate HP SIM to new hardware
Hi,
I have a server running SIM 4.1. The database is on another server running SQL.
I installed SIM 4.2 on a new server and would like to keep my old database.
I noticed the database name is different.
4.1 --> Insight_v1_0_135552992
4.2 --> Insight_v42_0_15467718
I first upgraded my old machine to SIM4.2, hoping the database itself would get upgraded. The database still had the old name.
Just renaming the database files will never work, because the internal name still references the old one.
I tried two types of import:
1. Copy table(s) and view(s) from the source database.
As destination I used the database created by the fresh install.
About half the data failed to copy.
2. Copy objects and data between SQL Server databases.
As destination I used an empty database created with the exact same name as the one created by the fresh install.
In both occasions the required data never appears in the freshly installed SIM.
All suggestions are welcome.
Thanx in advance
