Moving SIM from a DL380 to a new BL465c
Hi all,
I have raised a support case with HP but I would like to know if anyone has done this and has experience with it.
We currently run SIM 5.01 on an old DL380 server, currently running low on hard drive space and has limited CPU / RAM capacity. The server is Windows Server 2003 Standard.
We have a new BL465c that has Server 2003 ready to go and I want to move SIM from that old server to this new one. We currently run SIM off a SQL 2005 database on our SQL server.
We want to keep the same IP and DNS name for the server, so I'm just wondering what the process and order for migrating the servers is. There is a white paper available I saw which was for version 4.2 so I'm just wondering if it's relevant for 5.01. And also it does not have any references for changing IP's or DNS names during the installation.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers.

Re: Moving SIM from a DL380 to a new BL465c
One other thing I forgot to mention is that I would like to upgrade from 5.01 to the latest version of SIM during this process, so also wondering when the best time for that would be.
I.e. Migrating 5.01 to 5.01 then upgrading to 5.3 or going from 5.01 straight to 5.3

Hi,
I've the same situation :i want to move from VM (sql 2005) to Physical Server (sql w2008) and keep the same name and @ip ...
Do you see any pb with this or any precisions ?I have to configure agent again all the nodes .... ?
I've already take a look to ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/management/hpsim/hpsim_51_migratingNewSystem.pdf
