mxdtf 100% cpu - New install
I've just installed the current version of HP S.I.M. using the install package with a default install.
After a restart, TMan is showed a steady CPU climb to 100%, where it has stayed for some time now, and memory usage very high as well.
mxdomainmgr.exe is currently taking aout 84MB of Ram, and mxdtf.exe is consuming 91-98% of the CPU cycles.
Beyond that, none of these programs seems to be _doing_ anything.
The SIM web page loads a blank.
Any advice would be apreciated. I'm just trying to get some data on one of my Proliant servers that may have a failing piece of hardware.

Re: mxdtf 100% cpu - New install
I dont remember exactly what the default install entails, but it could be doing a initial scan for new devices. So possibly the server is really busy because of this.
I dont enable automatic scans on my SIM server, so I am not exactly sure how much juice it takes to do this.
You might want to check out your SIM Task Results log and see if anything is currently running (like a scan) that could account for the high CPU usage.

Re: mxdtf 100% cpu - New install
Thanks, but I can't actually get to anything to check any systems. https://localhost:50000/ returns a completely blank page.
CPU has been pegged for over an hour. No apparent action in all that time.

Re: mxdtf 100% cpu - New install
Sorry David,
White box PC, 2 Ghz Athlon, 1 Gig Ram.
Windows XP sp2, using MSDE.
Older versions of Compaq Insight Man seemed to run OK on this platform. My only other Compaq/HP machines are servers, and I can't load it there right now for obvious reasons.

Re: mxdtf 100% cpu - New install
Offending service apears to be the "HP Systems Insight Manager" service- hpsimsvc.exe
I've tried giving it a different (both domain admin) login credentials, but no joy. As soon as the service is started, it pegs CPU. As soon as it is stopped, things go calm.
Wish I knew what to look at next.

Oh, and single IP segment, <150 hosts, including half-dozen proliant servers, Procurve devices and printers.

Re: mxdtf 100% cpu - New install
Well, I'm not running this on my desktop PC , I'm running it on a secondary PC dedicated for tasks like this, so desktop performance.
Whatever in the world is this product doing that it can bury the machine for more than an hour, and not manage to accomplish a single thing ?
I wonder if this is the right product for me. I just have a few systems that I need the keep and eye on, I don't want to spend my time here as the First Prime priest of the Sonic Scrutinizer.
I just want to see if my ML530 has thrown out any hardware faults.

Re: mxdtf 100% cpu - New install
Myself, I really like the product (except for a few glitches here and there). I would sure hate to have you give up on it already :)
I assume you have rebooted the machine already and it is still doing the same thing?

Re: mxdtf 100% cpu - New install
I couldn't get anywhere on the SIM, so I went back to an earlier version, and that installed OK.
Probably something subtle wrong with my platform here.
Unfortunately, the IM information was not able to give me any useful information about what may be wrong that's cauing my abends.
Thanks everyone
