Name Changes in SIM from Host Name To Serial Number on Restart
On our recent round of WSUS updates, I discovered the next morning that SIM had changed the names of quite a few systems from their host names, which they were the night before, to their HP serial numbers. It had left the old host name there, but in a disabled state. When I restarted the SNMP agent on the system, and all the HP agents, the old host name was gone, and only the serial number entry was still there. Has anyone seen this or know how to make it stop. It adds an unnecessary amount of work to have to remove and rediscover these systems in SIM after every restart. They are on the 8.20A version of the PSP and are otherwise running fine in SIM. Thanks!

Re: Name Changes in SIM from Host Name To Serial Number on Restart
Maybe same issue as...
http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1391514
The fix is to disable the global option to automatically discover a server when it's ilo is discovered. The reason...apparently a BUG in HPSIM 5.3 SP1 wherein it ALWAYS creates a bare-metal node when identifying an ILO...even if the managed server already exists in HPSIM.
