Netraid 1m in a NetserverE800
Hello,
I have SIM 4.1SP1 installed on an Proliant ML350 and it is running fine. Now I want to monitor an Netserver E800 on which I installed SNMP and the HP Server Agents. Now I have tested the monitoring an disabled one harddisk from the mirror set on the netraid 1m. But my server hardware status is unchanged at says all is ok! What is to do so that I get an mail for souch a critical event?
Thank you - Michael

Re: Netraid 1m in a NetserverE800
You can create a Automatic Event Handling Task which can notify you through a mail. Before creating the task just ensure that you have set the trap destination in the "Trap" section of the SNMP Configuration page in the Insight management page of your Netserver.

Re: Netraid 1m in a NetserverE800
The previous answer is correct.
When monitoring non-Proliant gear, the only thing you can hope for to detect a problem is to be monitoring the SNMP traps. HPSIM when "polling" will not show a netserver, dell, netfinity, etc server as being in a critical, major, or minor state.
On your E800, you need the following:
Install SNMP - set up a trap destination against the RO community that SIM uses.
Install the TopTools agents.
You may also have to go into the SNMP Trap settings in SIM and adjust the hpnraid mib (I think that's the one - hpn is for netraid 4m's and there's another for the 1m, 2m, 1si and 3si controllers) and turn all the device failure mibs from informational to critical.
Lastly, you need to set up an event handling task to email you anytime you receive "an important" event.
