New SIM server and VCA no longer available

Hey all, I recently had to "sacrifice" my SIM server for a vendor to do some on-site work. I took that opportunity to install SIM 6 (previously I was on 5.3 SP1) on a ProLiant DL360 G5. The install seemed to go smoothly, and discovery worked great, but VCA on the servers quit working. Here's the error message I'm getting when I try to run "Configure or Repair Agents":

Configure Version Control Agent (START) ...
There was an error processing the request to the agent, possibly due to a version conflict.
Configure Version Control Agent ..................................... [FAILED]
Check the credentials you entered for the VCA to use to access the VCRM. For security reasons, the VCA cannot connect to the VCRM using the default 'Administrator' user. For more information, refer to the Version Control Agent documentation.

I've tried running VCA from SMH on the servers and I get an error popup that says:

A timeout occurred while loading data for the HP System Management Homepage which my result in missing in incomplete information. See the HP System Management Homepage log for additional information.

Trying to access the log gives the same error. In fact, clicking on just about anything else at this point gives the same error. I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling VCA but no joy. I'm guessing I need to configure something else on my SIM server (account info?) for the VCRM but I can't seem to find anything. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe B

Re: New SIM server and VCA no longer available

On our VCRM Server (same as HPSIM here) I set up a local account and use this for the VCA Access. You may just want to check you have an account with the correct credentials.
There's also an issue with old versions of the VCA where they get into a hung state.
SMH will give the time out error and the VCA is completely unresponsive.
To fix, kill the vcagent.exe (from Task manager) and then start the service. Then browse to the VCA.
There's an issue where the SW Polling task corrupts the cache, fixed in later versions.

Rob, is the cache issue fixed in 6.1.0.841, or are you talking later later?

Re: New SIM server and VCA no longer available

All -- I am getting the same error. We upgraded HPSIM from v5.3 to v6.0 (and also HOTFIX60_001; 002 and 003).
I upgraded VMRM to v6.1.0.841.
I ran HPSUM and verified that I had no other patches to download.

Still getting "Check the credentials you entered for the VCA to use to access the VCRM. For security reasons, the VCA cannot connect to the VCRM using the default 'Administrator' user. For more information, refer to the Version Control Agent documentation" when we configure/repair the agents.

If I just go into the VCA and specify the credentials I get, "The specified repository, ncb-sv-025, is invalid or not reachable."
The verbose log says, "The repository specified, ncb-sv-025, did not return a result.".

We have no firewalls in place. I've rebooted; checked SNMP; checked account password/groups and am at a loss.

This isn't just one VCA either -- it's "all" of them now -- so I know it is not a client issue -- its the HPSIM/VCRM server.

any help would be great!? thanks...

I am having the exact same problem as Peter above. Does anyone have any updates on this issue??

Re: New SIM server and VCA no longer available

still working w/ HP support on this. We deleted HPSIM/VCRM and went back to HPSIM v5.3 and re-tried. We're up to the latest VCRM version now with the same issues. We're creating a new VCRM on a different server and only un-packing 1 v8.50 PSP for tests...
