New to SIM 5.0 -- Managed systems config help.

I am new to SIM 5.0 and server management all together -- we are a HP/Compaq shop and I need to get our systems under control so we have have a heads up on hardware/software issues before/as they happen -- currently we are just reactionary with any server related problems we have.

We have servers spread throughout the enterprise with either no agents or old management agents installed.

I am a little confused with the process of installing insight management agents on server and what it entails.

Most server have never had PSP run on them, do I need to install PSP then the management Home page package and enable a trust to the SIM server?

If any one can point me in the right direction or outline the steps needed in order to install the Insight management agents it would be most helpful.

Thanks.

Re: New to SIM 5.0 -- Managed systems config help.

You can have a VCRM setup (can be done on the CMS itself) and then deploy the PSP (SMH is also part of the PSP) on the targets (those machines that you said has no agents at all) using the "Initial Proliant Support Pack Install" task available in HPSIM. As far as enabling the trust goes, you can make use of the "Configure/Repair Agent settings" task and have the trust setup on multiple target machines at the same time.

Re: New to SIM 5.0 -- Managed systems config help.

How do you go about setting up a VCRM on the existing SIM server?

Is this an option in the inital installation, if so can it be added to the SIM server?
