New to SIM

I'm new to SIM and just installed 6.2 on server 2008R2. When I ran the autodiscover it only found some of our servers and not all of them. Can someone guide me in the right direction? Thanks.

Autodiscovery by default will only discover a limited IP address range. You need to define additional discovery task to discover all the system you have in your network.

But do you really want to discover all?

I think you should discuss with HP SIM consultant and explain your goals.
He will lead you to a useful solution.

e.g. HW Monitoring of all your physical systems.

Thanks BPE. I will do that. Does one need an active service contract with HP to get SIM assistance?

I only know that the HP Insight Remote Support is bundled with your HW warranty or service contract no special Software support contract needed. I also know that it is different for HP SIM and that there a regional differences.
I recommend to check the www.hp.com/go/hpsim page for software support details. You should be able to find local contact numbers. Once there was an US 800 number for the 30 Days installation support. But we never had something similar at that time in Europe.

After 90 days: customers will be supported for HP Systems Insight Manager if they have one of the following conditions:


1. Purchase Insight Control Suites (having 1-year 24x7 Technical Support embedded with the license purchase).
2. If the question is Insight Remote Support Advanced related then HP SIM will be supported as it pertains to Remote Support Advanced with a Hardware Warranty or Hardware Contract.
