No Cold Start Traps in HP Sim 6
The issue I am having is that I have just installed a new version of HP SIM (v6). I am having an issue in that the HP SIM server will not show Cold Start Trap events.
We had an old version of SIM which allowed us to email out when a Cold Start trap occured.
I know that SNMP is working on a test node, as we also use Open View, which does show the cold start event, when it happens.
In SIM the test machine is discovered and I am able to manage it.
Anyone have any Ideas.

Re: No Cold Start Traps in HP Sim 6
If so, does any event get generated on the HP SIM Server.
What happens if you use the Trap Send GUI, does an event get generated?
Any firewalls on the HPSIM Server stopping snmp?

Re: No Cold Start Traps in HP Sim 6
This morning a got through some predictive memory failure alerts, so I know SNMP is working. But no cold start traps.
Where can I get this Trap Send you mentioned.
All I seem to get a a lot of system unreachable system reachable.
As stated earlier I know SNMP is working on the target system as our other SNMP trap collector Open view is working with the target system.
Thanks for your reply, I really appriciate your help on this.
Thanks

Re: No Cold Start Traps in HP Sim 6
Are you sure no event filter exists on the sim server. Check in Option / events /events filtering : be sure that you accept informationnal and minor events...
hope it helps

Re: No Cold Start Traps in HP Sim 6
I have checked the SIM server as you suggested and I have the following config
Accept Unregistered Event (ticked)
Accep Registered events with severity
Critical (ticked)
Major (ticked)
Minor (ticked)
Warning (ticked)
Informational (ticked)
Accept SNMP traps from discovered systems in IP ranges (*)
Discard SNMP traps from discovered systems in IP ranges (blank)
This is as it was on the old sim server.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
