No options under "Performance" tab in the navigation frame

I have installed the entire ProLiant Support Pack for Linux and configured it on one of our servers, and it seems to be working great. (Thanks David!) I am in the process of installing it on all of our production boxes. But first...

Now it seems that I need to install additional RPMs to have the features under the "Performance" tab in the navigation frame to monitor things like system processes, memory usage, etc. (these are available here on our monitored Windows servers). I have tried to find the correct package, but am unsure of which one to download and install. Can someone tell me which RPM is the right one to go with? Thanks.

Marc

p.s. A guess... Is it the "HP Storage Agents for Linux"(cmastor-7.1.0-12.linux.i386.rpm) or the "HP System Health Application and Insight Management Agents for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3"(hpasm-7.1.1b-95.rhel3.i386.rpm) RPM? Both?

Re: No options under "Performance" tab in the navigation frame

OK, I've been reading all day on this, and while I know a lot more than I did about SIM (I never even heard of this product until a few days ago), I still cannot figure out why I cannot see anything under the "perfomance" tab. I am pretty sure I have everything I need installed. I am assuming that these are the Foundation Agents. I'm sure you all think this is probably a stupid question, but I am stuck. Please help.

You have a "tab" that says performance? The only tabs should be Home, Settings, Tasks and Logs. You should have a box labeled Utilization with one item in it. There should not be a Performance box on the Linux agent. See attached screen shot.

Re: No options under "Performance" tab in the navigation frame

Thanks for the reply. What I am refering to is, when you click on "Insight Management Agent" under "Integrated Agents" on the left of the screen, it brings up a new window with 3 frames. One of the frames is what they call a "Navigation frame" which have 6 groups of links, including "Configuration", "Mass Storage", "NIC", "Utilization", "Recovery", and the one in question here "Performance". On the Windows servers here there are numberous selections that monitor memory usage, processes, etc. under this section or tab or whatever you want to call it. I am wondering how to get them available like they are on the Windows boxes, memory usage most importantly. I hope I am making sense, and thanks again for your help.

Re: No options under "Performance" tab in the navigation frame

You're right, that header is there in the legacy view. There's nothing to populate it. The information in the Windows agents is essentially "free" - that is, the information is available by reading the counters in Windows. That same instrumentation isn't the same in Linux, and there are numerous open source utilities that are available from sourceforge.

I was starting to think that those features were not part of the linux package. Thanks for all your help!
