Nodename used in HPSIM SNMPtraps
Hi,
I have an environment, where every server has one production EthernetInterface, one backup EthernetInterface and one ManagementInterface.
Every server has also 3 FullyQualifiedDoaminNames assigned.
Example:
LIM-SERVER.eriks.ads (prodLAN FQDN)
BCK-LIM-SERVER.eriks.ads (backupLAN FQDN)
MGT-LIM-SERVER.eriks.ads (managementLAN FQDN)
Goal is that all HPISM SNMP traffic communicates over the management LAN.
An HPSIMserver SNMPpolls the managed servers via the management LAN.
In the Windows NetworkConnectionSetings advanced settings (see attachement for the settings I mean) the Production EthernetInterface is always set first,
due to the applications used on the servers.
On all servers, we als have an HP OperationsManager agent installed.
In order to get all HPSIM alarm messages,
I do send the SNMPtraps to localhost.
OpertionsManager SNMPbased policies are loaded on the servers, so that the HPSIM SNMPtraps are detected by the OMagents.
To test this, I do use the HSPIMagents control applet interactively. This applet has on the SNMP tab, the facility to send an HPSIM test trap (see attachment).
My questions now:
1/ Why is sometimes the ManagementEthernet FQDN name used in the HPSIM SNMPtest trap?
2/ Why is sometimes the ProductionEthernet FQDN name used in the HPSIM SNMPtest trap?
3/ Is there a way to force HPSIM to use the
ManagementEthernet FQDN?
4/ Is there a way to send the HPSIM SNMP test test via the command line instead of using the
applet GUI.
Erik.
