Novell 6.5 Web Agent issue

Our network has a number of Netware 6.5 servers. HPSIM (4.2 SP1) has an issue where attempting to connect to the insight manager agent page causes the IE window to attempt to open, but hang without fully loading.
Data collection works fine, servers are pingable. These servers are all DL380 G3's using Management agent 7.0. Community strings are valid.
Any ideas where to continue troubleshooting would be appreciated.

Are you able to browse to the Management Agents page https://servername:2381/, directly from a browser without using HPSIM?

Okay. So its not related to HPSIM. What version of Management Agents is installed on the netware servers?

You may want to check the browser security settings as well. Try adding https://servername to the trusted zone or Local intranet zone.

Check your proxy settings in browser. Try disabling proxy and see if you can reach the server.

Restart management agents on the Netware server and try.

Bill,
Instead of trying to browse to port 2381 can you browse to port 2301 using http? Example: http:\\servername:2301

It would be an interesting data point if you get different results doing that.

Thank you both, but no I get the same results for 2301 and 2381. Interesting note, when I select the System Management Homepage, the device home page loads and shows what should be a link to the Insight web agent, only there is no icon.

Should also add I did try the trusted zone and disabling the proxy with no change.

I was having the same issue until I went into the System management Homepage and uncheck the IP Bind option.
Now all is well on my end.

uncheck the option on the CMS or the monitored server?

I unchecked it on the CMS... Didn't know how to do it on the NetWare server itself...

IP Binding is a feature in System Management Homepage 2.0, which is not available for Netware servers. From the previous posts, it is clear that it is not related to HPSIM also.

If you are not able to browse to webagent port, i.e., http://netware_server_name:2301 or https://netware_server_name:2381, then you may have to try each of the following.

1. Whether you are able to ping the netware server from your browser machine.

2. If you have any other web services running in netware server, then try accessing that port. If you are seeing the webpage of other webservice, but not Webagent, then Something is wrong with webagent.

3. Try restarting the Webagents service on netware server.

4. Check the browser proxy settings (Tools->Internet options->Connections->Lan Settings)

5. Check if your browsers security settings. If it is High, then you may have to add the netware server into trusted zone or local intranet zone..
