I am trying to P2V some servers and I am having some difficulty finding documentation. I would like something that tells me what needs to be installed (currently I have ESX 2.5.x, SIM 5.0sp4, VMM 2.0.2, and SMP 2.0.2). And then tells me the software and/or agents that need to be on each of the physical server, VM host, VC, and CMS. And finally, the exact steps to P2V the system.

Re: P2V process start to finish
The docs for VMM should list the pre-requisites.
The only thing I can see you've not listed is the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator that needs to be installed on the HPSIM Server.
A couple of pre-requisites, record the IP Address and ensure you know the lcoal administrator password (esp. for W2K servers)
The process is:
deploy the SMP License
deploy the SMP Agent
start the P2V process
Once the process is complete, shutdown the physical server and start the virtual one.
Install vmware tools and configure the network settings.

Re: P2V process start to finish
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. And I had eventually called HP support and what I was missing was the VMM installed on the ESX server (which again w/o the documentation, is hard to know). I managed to start a "test" P2V migration, but it failed and I am now 2500 miles from the site migrating the physical servers I had hoped to VM. I will get back into it when I return.
