Paging from HP SIM 4.2

Anyone have any luck configuring the paging feature of HP SIM 4.2? I can get it to make the call but the pager only receives the phone number of the pager. Is there only certain type of alpha/numeric pagers that work?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what "pager only receives the phone number of the pager" means. Do not set SIM up to dail the same number you would dail to place a page from your office phone. You need to dial the paging service and connect to a modem. In other words when you dial the number you configured in SIM do you hear a modem pickup on the other side?

Be sure to check how your pager service provider works with alphanumeric pages. Most likely the service has a number for TAPI (?) sessions like the one HP SIM is making. In this case the provider's server would be the number to call (entered in Phone Number field) and your pager number, or some part of it, would be entered in the PIN field.

thanks guys! This points me in the right direction to trouble shoot this issue. The HP documentation on this is lacking to say the least.

I obtained a paging modem phone number from my service provider and input this number into the phone number field. My pager number is filled in the PIN field. Direct paging is now functioning properly. More information on configuring direct paging should be included in HP's documentation.
