PMP installation with Oracle 10g fails

We have installed HP SIM 5.1 with SP1 connected to an Oracle 10g Database. Everything works fine exept the Installation of PMP.

We installed the Oracle Client and created the DB PMP as discriebed in the Installation Manual.

When we start the PMP.EXE to install we get the message "Database validation on HPSIM failed. Aborting the Installation"

Any idea what's the problem?

Re: PMP installation with Oracle 10g fails

Hi,

The error message shows that there is some problem with HPSIM interaction. You can verify that by going through log files, created during PMP installation, hppmp.log & pmpdb.log, normally creates in system drive. Or you can attached those files, here for better understanding the problem.

Thanks.

Hi,
Can you try connecting the remote oracle database by specifying SID name for connectivity VIA enterprise console.

Re: PMP installation with Oracle 10g fails

Hi paul,
The problem is with PMP, HPSIM 5.1 SP1 comes PMP 4.3. where PMP 4.3 doesnt support oralce 10g. The PMP 4.4 or later supports oracle 10g.

Hi,
the Management CD 7.80 I was using has already PMP 4.40 and the Installation doesn't work. HP SIM 5.1 and all other Parts installt pretty well.

Re: PMP installation with Oracle 10g fails

I have tried to install PMP47 on an Oracle database. I have had exactly the same problem : Database validation on HPSIM failed.
Does anyone find the solution?
Do we need to have a specific name for the pmp DB? I only have the same credentials as the Oracle HPSIM db.
I have checked the log files hppmp.log and PMPDB.log, but nothing to help.

I have SIM 5.2 on Windows 2003 server and Oracle DB on a Solaris 10 virtual zone.

Please, help me.
