Problem with HP SIM SQL Install.
Everytime I try to install SIM and get to the DBase Config page the install fails with error "Unable to get information from the specified database server."
I've installed SQL Express 2005 SP2 locally on the same machine I'm trying to install SIM on and enabled Named Pipes & TCP/IP connections to it. I'm configuring SIM to use the 'sa' SQL credentials but it just pops back with this error everytime.
Is there some other configuration change I need to make to SQL before I can install SIM on this machine?
Cheers!

Re: Problem with HP SIM SQL Install.
One chance you have in solving this problem is to try to use Windows Authentication instead of the sa account.

Re: Problem with HP SIM SQL Install.
The SQL install is standard, I just ran the installation with all default parameters checked and then started the SIM install.
Any more ideas anyone?

Re: Problem with HP SIM SQL Install.
You must enable the "SQL Browser Service" for the SQL 2005 Express server.

Re: Problem with HP SIM SQL Install.
I had similar issue while installing HPSIM 6.2 with SQL 2008 Express Edition. SQL Browser service was disabled in default install. Enabled and started and all worked fine.

Re: Problem with HP SIM SQL Install.
I am trying install and setup HP SIM on a windows 2008 R2 X64 bit (DL380G5)server. I have my database in a enterprise SQL server (2008 SQL server) in same domain, name of the database is hp_sim. I am able to connect to the database using DSN , but when i try install HP Sim and give the details i am getting all types of error like host not reachable, check the port, Database credentails are not correct , database doesn't exist. Did anyone came across this type of problem ? any inputs much appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Problem with HP SIM SQL Install.
Hello,
Is that the screenshot as you tried to install the software? I would guess that you need to type your localhostname in the SQL server name fields.
