Problems discovering Cisco devices - HP SIM4.1 SP1

Hi there, I'm trying to manage various Cisco switches from HP SIM4.1 & are experiencing difficulty getting SIM to automatically recognize the device type upon discovery.

Very intermittantly it works only if I manually detect a single device however not if I bulk import which is what I want to do.

I've imported the correct CISCO MIBS (via mcompile & mxmib command line). I've also manually created the system type rules (retrieved the system type iod from the devices successfully etc) so I can't understand why it won't detect the devices. I've confirmed that the community strings are definately correct, why is this so flakey? I've even tried clearing out all the unused system type rules hoping it might improve the odds (but to no avail...).

Any ideas how to get this to work? As I said earier, it does very occasionally get it right...
