Problems with firewall and version control agent
I am running HP systems insight manager 4.2 with SP1.
I have a number of servers in the DMZ, which I can see from the Console and I can connect to using the https://****:2381 etc. I am trying to upgrade some drivers and system ROM using version control agent. When I fire it up it says:
"Status cannot be calculated because a Version Control Repository Manager has not been named. Click on change agent settings to specify a Version Control Repository Manager."
I can see installed software but;
When I try to put in the Server name with correct account name and password it says;
The specified repository, SERVERNAME, is invalid or not reachable.
I have tried putting in a static entry on the server in the hosts file pointing to the Reposistory server ( which is the Management server ) but this does not work?
anybody have any ideas?

Re: Problems with firewall and version control agent
Instead of using the servername have to tried using its IP address? That may work instead.

Re: Problems with firewall and version control agent
It may be a firewall configuration issue. Try looking at this document to ensure you have the proper DMZ firewall configurations in place.

Re: Problems with firewall and version control agent
Hi Peter,
I had similar problems and it was definitely firewall related.
The trick is to allow port 2381 BOTH directions through the firewall. The SIM server needs to talk to the VCA on the server over port 2381, and the client needs to talk back to the VCM on the SIM server also on 2381. Our firewall guys only had one direction enabled. When I had them enable it both directions, it started working right away.
Hope this works!
