Product Model is always IBM!

I'm running a SIM5 SP5 server on a server farm of 99% HP Proliants with about 30 IBM XSeries servers. (SP5 upgraded from SP4, not a fresh install)

When I came in this morning (an auto discovery runs every night) ALL servers had a Product Model value of IBM!

If I run a data collection on any of the servers the Product Subtype is HP Proliant but the Product Model is IBM?!?!?!?

If I delete the entry and rediscover it it's the same!

Has anyone seen this?

Hello Tony,

Try a Configure/Repair agent.
Restore globalsettings.props from a working backup if the above does'nt work.

Re: Product Model is always IBM!

I tried this but get the following error:

Failed to connect to CIMOM: CIM_ERR_ACCESS_DENIED(CIM_ERR_ACCESS_DENIED: Access to a CIM resource was not available to the client: "LogonUser()")

I am enterign a valid administrator account for that server.

I tried copying a known good globalsettings.props over but still no joy.

I fear a complete reinstall is in order!

Re: Product Model is always IBM!

Have you modified any of the SNMP rules in the Manage System Types page (under Options) menu?

Re: Product Model is always IBM!

A bit late now, but this sounds like someone had added a new System Type under the Manage System Types and had made it a bit too generic.

Re: Product Model is always IBM!

Thanks, I've checked the "Manage System Types" and do have an entry for IBM as follows:

Product Model: IBM
System Type: Desktop
Subtype: None
Protocol: DMI
Priority: 6
System Object Identifier: -

Does that sound right?
I certainly didn't add this, but I don't understand the terminology fully regarding these values?

Re: Product Model is always IBM!

There should be one more entry with IBM as product name, "Server" as product type and "SNMP" as protocol. Please verify the OID values for that rule.

Re: Product Model is always IBM!

That entry doesn't exist, is it a default value that is added when SIM is installed?
