Proper configuration for alarms?

My HP SIM is not letting me know when there are critical hardware condidtions such as a drive going down. What are the prerequisites for a client to comunicate to HP SIM that there is a hardware condition that requires attention? It seems for the most part the only alarms i get are when a server is up or down ... that is all.

I noticed a drive was red on a server but had not recieved any alarm. So I replaced the drive and upgraded the drivers to 7.30a. I have 200 clients and their PSP versions are anywhere from 5.3 to 7.3. I upgraded my test box to 7.3 ... pulled a drive from its RAID array and never recived an alarm!
