"Unknown HP SNMP device"
I'm using SIM 4.2 SP2. Some of my servers show up as "Unkonw HP SNMP device". I can't see a difference in the way they're set up. Could there be a problem with the versions of the agents ?

Re: "Unknown HP SNMP device"
One possible problem could be Windows 2003 SP1. If the problem device in question is running 2003 SP1, make sure you are using Support Pack 7.2 or higher. Previous versions do not work with SP1 properly.

Re: "Unknown HP SNMP device"
Just making sure someone answered. There are already several threads on this forum about this. Personally, I upgraded the firmware on my G4 and that fixed it. Other people upgraded their Agent versions...

Re: "Unknown HP SNMP device"
Hi,
One of the possible problem is your SNMP community string. Be sure you have configure the SNMP community string right both from Managed Device and your SIM.
Another one is SNMP service property settings. Be sure that the Managed device has authorized your SIM server to query SNMP packets. For Windows Server 2003, the default SNMP settings is only allowed to its Localhost only. Add the IP address of your SIM if this is the typeof OS your Managed device used.
Hope this would help.
