R_ views not getting populated
Hey guys . . .
I've been trying to resolve issues involving the reporting views (see my thread about duplicate entries -- http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=716803).
In doing so, we disabled all the protocols except for SNMP, blew away all the records, and let HP SIM rediscover them.
It seems to have rediscovered just about all the servers (the HP SIM admin says he doesn't see anything missing), but several of the R_ views/tables are missing data (including R_LogicalDisks, R_DIMMSlots, and R_PowerSupply, among others).
Does anyone know why this is happening? This is important because I maintain a server inventory database (separate from HP SIM) that relies partially on HP SIM's DB to keep it up-to-date.
The SIM admin said he'd run the bi-weekly polling tasks this weekend to see if any of the missing data turns up. Anyone know if this'll turn the trick?
Thanks in advance . . .

Re: R_ views not getting populated
Raymond,
Certainly in CIM 7, the Bi-Weekly task was the one that populated the R_ Tables.
I'm not too sure of the mechanisms in HPSIM, but I'd say some of that was carried over.
I've not investigated in depth, but it seems as though some of the original R_ Tables are now R_ Views and the are made of up a number of different tables.
But my guess is the original mechanism to populate the Reports tables will still be driven to a degree by the Bi-Weekly task.

Re: R_ views not getting populated
Rob:
From what I've observed so far, this seems to be the case. I was admittedly concerned because although the SIM admin said that everything seemed to be okay after SIM re-discovered everything, there was still data missing when I ran a query against the R_ views.
I actually went into SIM, ran a manual re-discover of one of the servers that was missing data, and it recovered everything with no problem.
The admin said we'll let the polling take place and let nature take its course. It seems to be a logical course of action, but I'm (admittedly) impatient, and was somewhat taken aback when, after SIM supposedly rediscovered all the servers, data was still missing from a significant number of R_ views.
We'll see how it goes. I guess I'll just have to be patient a while longer . . . (*sigh*)
