Has there been any news on an update for Rack and Power Manager 1.1?
Thanks,

Re: Rack and Power Manager with SIM 5
HP Rack and Power manager is a part of the HP ProLiant Essentials plug-ins with HP SIM.
Let me check for the level of support for the Rack and Power Manager 1.1 with HP SIM 5.

rmn

Re: Rack and Power Manager with SIM 5
I have just confirmed that the HP Rack and Power Manager 1.1 can be integrated with
HP SIM 5 to send snmp traps.
Refer this document for more details:
http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/power-protection/software/index.html
But there are some changes that needs to be done if you want the UPS to be configured to send traps directly to the HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) v 5.x Software.
Tell me if you need that workaround in case you are not aware of that.

rmn

Hi Donald, please tell me about the workaround.
We use HP Power Manager 4.x, but I think there is no difference in sending traps to HP SIM v 5.x

Re: Rack and Power Manager with SIM 5
From the command line on the Central Management Server (CMS) under the c:\program filed\hp\systems insight manager\mibs you may have to type the following command:
Mcompile xups.mib
Mxmib -a xups.cfg
After this is completed successfully, you need to do this from the HP SIM console:
Options->manage system types, and then click New.
# System Object Identifier field->Retrieve from System. Clicking this option moves the cursor to the bottom of the page where an option is provided for typing in the IP address of the SNMP card.
# MIB Variable Object Identifier field->Retrieve from MIB.
# Select XUPS.mib->xupsidentModel. It enables HP SIM to return the Model Name of the UPS.
# Object Value field->Retrieve from System. HP SIM pings the SNMP get on the Object ID (OID) from the previous field.
# System Type->UPS, and type just the numerical portion of the UPS model in the Object Value field (alternatively, click Retrieve from System). Then provide a product model number for the UPS type.
Don't forget to hyperterminal the SNMP card through the serial cable and configure all the traps and levels for the CMS server.
Hope this answers!!!!!

rmn
