Remote deployement on Latest support pack fails

Hi There,

I have HP SIM 4.1 up and running with my repository manager.

I have quite a few servers(mostly NT 4 Sp6) which needs upgrading from older version of the support pack to the latest one.

I have downloaded and included the latest PSP 6.31 for NT in the repository manager and while trying to deliver it to the servers(present on the local subnet0 , it always fails with the following error:
EXCEPTION CLASS: com.hp.mx.exceptions.MxFailedAuthenticationException
EXCEPTION: Authentication failed.

I have made sure that i am using the right credentials for the target server and it still fails with the same error.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Cheers
Vivek

Do you have SSH configured on your CMS?

Try this Tools-->Command Line-->Windows-->Netstat and see if that function works.

This is a good easy test to see if you have ssh configured.

I should also have asked was it working before or is this the first attempt at using it?

Re: Remote deployement on Latest support pack fails

I am not reallu sure if SSh is configured.

Its a new install and its my first attempt to deploy the software remotely.

I dont ssuppose i have ssh installed on the remote server.

Do i really need ssh running on the target box to be able to deploy the software.

Re: Remote deployement on Latest support pack fails

Vivek,

On the server where HP SIM is installed is has the account 'Administrator' been renamed?

If so you will need to rename it back or create a new account called 'Administrator' and add it to the local Administrators group. Logon and logoff as that account to create it's local user profile.

Then do the following commands from a command prompt:

mkpasswd -l -u administrator -p thepassword>>"C:\program files\openssh\etc\passwd"

mxagentconfig -a -n HPSIMservername -u administrator -p thepassword

You should now be able to to the task.
