Resending of past emails
Every now and then I get a flood of emails that are events of the past. I have a workaround but was wondering if this is a known issue and is being fixed by HPSIM 4.1?
I believe I am not the only one with the issue because I have seen a comment in another thread from Tim McGue having the same issue:
Mar 29, 2004 20:01:44 GMT unassigned
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks Geoff for the details. It makes sense. I was taking a stab that this process might have been related to a major problem I'm having where every so ofter HP SIM sends me event notifications for every single event that ever occurred instead of just new ones.
Tim

Re: Resending of past emails
I've had that issue as well - first with CIM7, now with HPSIM4.0. What workaround do you use? I was able to reduce the amount of repeat emails in CIM7 by adding the filter of 'uncleared status', then making sure I cleared every (critical, major) event as it came up. I've been trying to figure out what triggers this, but no luck so far. I'm really interested in knowing what your workaround is.

Re: Resending of past emails
I would have liked just deleting the events after they sent the email but needed them for Availability reporting purposes.
In addition to sending an email when the alert comes in, I Assign it to a phantom user I called 'Workaround'. Then I modified my Alert Notification Task to include 'Assignee not Workaround'.
From what I saw it was only resending the alerts that matched my existing Alert Notification Task. Configuring the above Assignee no longer matches after it comes in.
Hope that helps
