Scripting SIM to report UPS status?
Due to the nature of HPRPM and not working well in a WAN enviorment (we had a very long trouble case with them last year) that could possibly go down, we do not run that software
I was looking to implement a UPS monitoring into HP SIM -- Currently, I've loaded the MIB "stdupsv1" into SIM and it seems to be reporting traps, but I was thinking scripting more of a LANSAFE type view (if only text only)
Am I dreaming here?

Re: Scripting SIM to report UPS status?
HPSIM uses a few protocols to get a response and then signals the UPS is up or down.
In addition the UPS can send SNMP traps which, if the MIBs are there can be interpreted and reported on.
HPSIM will not interact with the UPS to obtain additional information.
So, no, HPSIM will not be able to monitor the device other than the up/down status.
Supplying the make of UPS may allow others to offer some suggestions.

Re: Scripting SIM to report UPS status?
Sorry - HP T1000 / T1500 series (Powerware UPS if I'm not mistaken)
I think im going to revisit HP R&PM...we had some issues last year where our UPS' were not shutting down the servers gracefully...
