Server in DMZ
I have a server on the 192.168 address which on the outside of the DMZ I believe. Once I add the server into Insight Manager it comes back and lists the system name as the ip address instead of the server name. Also, if i click on the hyper-link it doesn't list the complete info on under general information and the hyper-link for insight management agents under the status information is not listed either. Is there a special trick to get this listed or it cannot happen.
Thanks....
Thanks....

Re: Server in DMZ
It's all about DNS and firewalls and what risks you are prepared to accept.
HPSIM needs to resolve the name and IP Address, it seems to use both forward and reverse lookups to verify the name. If it gets different results or cannot do a reverse lookup it will just list the IP Address.
If HPSIM is recognising the device then SNMP is allowed through your firewall. If you're using the default public and private community names you may want to replace them.
If the Server is under some protection then you need to weigh up the risk of allowing more holes through the firewall, typically 2301 and 2381 for HPSIM to talk to the Agents. If the Server is fully exposed to the Internet the general advice is you do not want to do that.
