Server role and Assett Tag. Newbie please help
We are running HP SIM 5.1 SP1 on a DL380 G5. We have a mixture of DL380 and DL360 G5's
I am trying to retrieve the server roles and asset tag information dynamically.
Asset Tag
I have entered the asset information into the BIOS. But not display when a data collection report is run. Asset tag appears when I manually enter the details under "edit system properties", "Asset number".
2nd problem. Server role.
I have entered the server role under SNMP settings under local Insight Manager. But does not appear when running a data collection report.
When running a report, most other information is displayed, for example OS etc.

Once this has run you should be able to report on the items listed above.

Re: Server role and Assett Tag. Newbie please help
I have already tried manually running all the tasks. Still no data is added. I have also noticed that the product id is not populated.
Would upgrading to SIM 5.2 help?
Is there a way of check to logs to see if these components (asset tag, Server role and product id) are being collected by these tasks.

Re: Server role and Assett Tag. Newbie please help
It should list the number of devices checked, and those it failed against.
This might give some clues as to why the data is not being captured.
This does work under 5.1, I'm not sure upgrading to 5.2 would make any difference at this point.

Re: Server role and Assett Tag. Newbie please help
I did check in this status area and it said it had completed without errors.

Re: Server role and Assett Tag. Newbie please help
One DL380 (SIM server) and a DL360. Both running Windows 2003 R2 x64 (is the x64 causing the problems???). Connected the two off the network just using a hub to connect them. Just in a workgroup.
The SIM server has SP2 installed as per requirements.
Ran all tasks. The sim server itself has come back with Server role and product id in the report. But still no details for other server. Apart from memory, model, etc.
