Setting up vca-vcrm infrastructure for hp components update and tracking
Dear all,
... The point ...
I'm trying to build an infrastructure for keeping our hp components up to date for our proliant and integrity servers, that is:
- hp agents(web, storage, ...)
- device drivers (network card, scsi controllers,...)
- device firmware (and bios)
I'd like to do it with VCA-VCRM(SIM5.0) components on windows based on "Deploy drivers, firmware and agents" feature in HP SIM 5.0.
.. my questions ...
Are the device's firmware deployed if I deploy the PSP package(for example PSP 730A ) ? Or do I have to split the tasks in order to deploy the HP agents updates + device drivers and then separately firmware ?
What are the network ports used for VCA-VCRM pair to work smoothly ? I know that a specific port is used from a managed system to give back a task completion's status to the CMS(SIM 5.0) ? Is that right ? I know 2301(?), 2381(CMS+managed system), 80(?), 280(?) are part of these tasks but I'm not sure what are really necessary, anybody knows ?
Thanks
Angelo

Re: Setting up vca-vcrm infrastructure for hp components update and tracking
I assume that you have PSPs and Firmwares in your VCRM.
PSP Have only Agents and Drivers(and Not Firmware)
So,You can Group Firmware Components into one "Custom Software Baseline"(CSB) in VCRM and then select PSP and CSB in SIM to Deploy to all VCA systems

Re: Setting up vca-vcrm infrastructure for hp components update and tracking
Thanks for your answer. I will do what you suggested.
Concerning the ports used, can anyone give me some help ? I've read a doc from HP, but the exact list of ports needed for this infrastrcuture VCA, VCRM to deploy software, get status of deploymenet withing SIM 5.0 and status of current installed software is never claerly explained...
Regards

Re: Setting up vca-vcrm infrastructure for hp components update and tracking
For Communication between VCA and VCRM and SIM the following ports are must
VCA and VCRM systems - 2381 and 2301
SIM System - 50000 and 280
VCA and VCRM systems - 2381 and 2301
SIM System - 50000 and 280
