Silent install for SIM 4.2? Account Issues?
I need to automate the installation of HP SIM 4.2. 1) Are there command line installation parameters that are documented somewhere? 2) Is it absolutely required that the installation of this product be done using *the* service account that the services will run under?
(Windows intall, btw)

Re: Silent install for SIM 4.2? Account Issues?
Silent install isn't officially supported, BUT, if you already have your database functioning and you only want to install HP SIM (not PMP, VPM, VMM, OpenSSH or the WMI Mapper) then you can play around a little. Again, don't expect to be able to call customer services if it doesn't work, so try it out first on a system you can re-image (or pull one of a pair of mirrored drives before doing so and you can fall back to the pre-install drive if something doesn't work.
You'll need to do some investigating on your own, but look into the .icf files that are part of the SIM download. The hint will be found in hpsim.icf.
The account doesn't have to be 'administrator' but it does need to interact with the desktop. If you change the account after installation, the account you change it to must have access to the database.
