Our SIM 4.1 server at some point began reporting it's IP as 127.0.0.1. I noticed this when the trust between the SIM app and the Repository broke. (I've tried every tip and trick that I could find in the forums... cannot get the trust back.) After some looking around I figured out that the server is reporting to SIM with it's 127.0.0.1 IP. (Clicking on the "Configure" button under "Options" - "Repository Manager" only works when locally logged into the server.)
I don't know what might have caused this nor do I know how to fix it. Any thoughts on how to get the server to report as it's correct IP address and get the repository trust working again?
Thanks for all the great knowledge everyone has posted here.

Solution
If you mean that the hp Systems Insight Manager server's "System Address" entry is set to 127.0.0.1 on the All Devices list (or any other device oriented list), it cannot be changed through the hp SIM interface.
The best bet after backing up both the SIM application and SQL database is to edit the IPAddress table and change the value 127.0.0.1 in the IPAddress column to the real address. Make certain prior to making this change that the SIM service has been stopped and that the IP address being entered can actually be pinged from the SIM box.
SQL Enterprise Manager is the easiest way of making these changes. If you have at least one copy of SQL Enterprise Manager on the network you can use it to register the SQL or MSDE database in question and make the changes. There are also other applications that can make changes to SQL tables. Lastly, there is the osql command line utility for MSDE (SQL Desktop Engine).

Re: SIM 4.1 Server running repository showing up as 127.0.0.1
Thanks John, First line of the table... modified it and restarted the service. Things are looking much better. Time for some software updates... woooohooooo.
