SIM 4.1 Will not detect any of my 2003 Servers

I have installed and configured my SIM, all working fine, all my 2000 server machines have been detected, but none of my 2003 servers. I use Smartstart to install all O/S's & all HP services are started on 2003 boxes.

Any ideas anyone?

Hello

Check SNMP propertis, tab securitiy. Default option in W2k3 is Accept SNMP packets from these hosts, and the value is localhost.
You must add your HPSIM server, restart SNMP servis and run identification task.

Hello

Try to ping those servers from your central server.
Check all SNMP settings (comunity name (case sensitive!), trap destination, SNMP security tab, check if SNMP servis is started) on those 2003 servers.

If everything OK, enter the IP range for that servers in Automatic Discovery and run.

I'm shure that you try all this but anyway.
It's so unusual that all w2k3 servers are not detected.

Ivan,
You don't generally need to restart SNMP when you change the settings.
Chris,
Ping should at least see the Servers, so check that you not using filters in the Discovery process. They might be being seen as "unmanaged" or "unknown". If the above then Ivans note on SNMP is the most likely cause. It needs to be changed on the client end not the HPSIM Server.

Also don't forget to check the DNS settings of the servers. The reverse pointers are equally important.
Ping server name..If this is correct
nslookup
nnslookup

If everything is ok..then it isn't DNS
I did run into a problem with DNS and two servers with the same assigned IP addresses. weird but it prevented certain servers from showing up in the console.
