SIM 6.2 installation failing

HP ProLiant DL380 G5
Windows 2003 x64 SP2
removed SIM 5.3 and SQL Server which were working just but old
tried to install SIM 6.2 -- SQL Server 2005 installed just fine then SIM 6.2 asked for password, typical installation, password again, click INSTALL returns very quickly with an Install Shell error "HP Systems Insight Manager failed to install successfully. Setup cannot continue. ..." the Installation Status indicates "Setup failed. Please refer to the C:\hpsim.log and \logs\initconfig.logfiles for details." I cannot find the latter anywhere. The former gives us this;

HP Storage Server 2003 is *not* supported. One must either upgrade to HP Storage Server 2008 or use a different system altogether that offers a supported OS.
